Crown, Shield & Lion Hallmarks.

A rare and beautifully preserved Victorian swallow brooch, crafted in sterling silver and finished with luminous blue enamel that shifts from deep cobalt to peacock teal as it catches the light.

The swallow — one of the most beloved motifs of the Victorian era — symbolised devotion, loyalty and safe return. It was often gifted between lovers or worn as a sentimental emblem of constancy.

The form is elegant and fluid, with outstretched wings and a sculptural silhouette that feels remarkably modern despite its 19th-century origin.

To the reverse, the brooch bears traditional hallmarks: Crown, Shield and Lion, alongside Sterling, confirming silver purity and period craftsmanship.
