Hester Fleming Vintage
1930s · Enamel Book Chain Necklace · Haskell-Style Blue Drop Statement
This striking 1930s necklace features a classic articulated gilt and lavender enamel book chain, finished with a dramatic fringe of cobalt blue glass bead drops. The warm gilt accents, detailed with green enamel, frame the glass beads, creating a vivid contrast against the depth of the cobalt.
The scale is generous, the movement fluid, and the colour palette richly characteristic of late Art Deco–era design.
Attributed to Miriam Haskell, the dimensional construction and romantic European influence closely reflect the atelier-style craftsmanship associated with her early work. While unsigned, the materials, palette, and theatrical drop fringe are consistent with documented Haskell pieces from the late 1930s.

Collector Notes
Unsigned examples of this scale and craftsmanship from the 1940s are increasingly scarce. The combination of articulated book chain work and hand-enamelled drop fringe makes this a particularly distinctive piece.
Styling
This is not a background necklace. Wear it against a simple black knit, crisp white shirt, or evening tailoring and allow the colour story to anchor the entire look.
